Airtel Kenya Mobile Number Prefixes

Airtel is the second-largest mobile network operator in terms of subscriber base in Kenya. Airtel trails behind Safaricom and is closely followed behind by Telkom Kenya. Airtel has been experiencing growth over the years and their subscriber base currently stands around 16.2 million (2020-21).

This steady rise could be attributed to the expansion of their network and the affordable rates its offers in relation to the market leader, Safaricom. It’s also worth also noting that Airtel Kenya acquired YU Mobile subscribers following the exit of the carrier from the Kenyan market.

Nevertheless, Airtel has struggled to make profit from their venture since their entry into the market.

Let’s take a look at all their mobile prefixes, from the old 07XX to the new 01XX prefixes.

  1. Hi please help to know how to deal with this fake msgs now using Airtel lines. When I forward to 333 they respond the prefix doesn’t belong to safaricom

Hi Agnes, 333 only works when reporting Safaricom numbers. Airtel has a similar service but not through SMS. Instead you can report as follows: Call our Call centre on 100 or send an Email to [email protected] with the fraud number and details.
